The car was finished in Ruby Red Metallic from the factory and was repainted under prior ownership. Features include a sunroof, body-color headlight rings, fog lights, dual side mirrors, and rear bumperettes. The left brake light is inoperable and additional flaws include flaking paint on the roof, rust under the drip rail to the left of the rear window, paint chips and scratches around the body, and paint damage on the upper-right side of the rear panel near the rear window.
The 16″ Fuchs wheels are mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires that were installed in November 2020. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel ventilated rotors. The rear sway bar was replaced in September 2011. Curb rash on the wheels is shown in the gallery.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in burgundy leather and vinyl along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include power windows, cruise control, and an Alpine CD stereo connected to Boston Acoustics speakers and an aftermarket amplifier, the latter of which was installed under current ownership. The carpets were replaced in 2012 and the seller states that he performed weld repairs to the floors to repair holes left by a previously-installed amplifier. Noted flaws include a tear on the left-rear C-pillar trim, a worn headliner and front seat upholstery, and a right window that is slow to roll down.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline as well as a 170-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership. An odometer reading of 115k miles is noted on the Carfax report in February 1986, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.0-liter flat-six was reportedly disassembled and overhauled under prior ownership with a rebuild of the cylinder heads, replacement of the head studs, and installation of 964-specification camshafts. Work under current ownership is said to have included reassembly and reinstallation of the engine along with servicing of the fuel injection system, installation of an oil sump plate, and replacement of the fuel distributor, air intake boot, warm-up regulator, and battery. The air conditioning compressor and condenser have been removed. A fluctuating idle is noted when the engine is cold.
The engine casing is stamped 64D0997 which is consistent with a 3.0-liter engine for a 1983 911SC.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle that is said to have been fired with a replacement clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing under current ownership. The catalytic converter was also removed and a catalytic converter bypass pipe was installed. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.
The car is supplied with the removed catalytic converter and air conditioning components.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with service records for work completed under current ownership.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists the abovementioned mileage inconsistency along with history in Texas, Florida, California, and Washington State from its first entry in February 1986 through its most recent in September 2021.
The car was designated a Gross Polluter by the state of California in May 2004.
