Alloy 16″ wheels are wrapped in older 225/50 Bridgestone Expedia S-01 tires. Braking is handled by anti-lock four-wheel discs. The brake fluid was flushed in December 2021 and the wheels were balanced in July 2022.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black leather and are complemented by a color-coordinated dash, door panels, and carpets. RX-7-branded floor mats line the footwells, and additional appointments include air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, a rear cargo cover, and drilled aluminum pedals. The driver’s window switch was replaced in December 2021 and the stereo amplifiers were repaired in preparation for the sale. The CD player and the passenger door speaker on the Bose Acoustic Wave stereo are inoperable.
A leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel frames a central 9k-rpm tachometer and a 180-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer indicates 17k miles, all of which were added by the seller.
The twin-turbocharged 1.3L 13B-REW rotary engine was factory rated at 255 horsepower and 217 lb-ft of torque. The air intake filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter were replaced, the coolant was flushed, the fuel tank was drained, and an ethanol treatment was added to the fuel system in December 2021. A compression test and oil change were performed and the air conditioning refrigerant was recharged in June 2022. Compression test results are listed on an invoice in the gallery below.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. The clutch hydraulic fluid was flushed and the differential and transmission fluids were replaced in December 2021. A dent is reported on the passenger pinch weld and additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
Extra items included in the sale include a Mazda-branded hat, a front license plate bracket, leather covers, a car cover, cleaning products, manufacturer’s literature, service records, and two binders of magazine articles.
