Vented 15″ steel wheels with Porsche-crest hubcaps were reportedly refinished in preparation for the sale and wear 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires that were mounted in July 2021. Additional recent work is said to have included replacing the left axle boot as well as various suspension bushings. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin features front bucket and individual rear seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl in 2000, according to the seller. The headliner and carpets are also said to have been replaced at that time. Appointments include a clock, a push-button Blaupunkt radio, and aftermarket speakers. Wear is visible on the carpets.
The three-spoke steering wheel is leather-wrapped and fronts VDO instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge that was recently repaired. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 1k of which were added during current ownership.
The 1.6-liter flat-four was rebuilt in 2014 including a valve adjustment as well as the installation of replacement pistons, cylinders, gaskets, and pushrods, and is said to have been driven approximately 2,000 miles since that time. Work performed in 2021 included rebuilding the carburetors and replacing the voltage regulator, generator, generator belt, spark plugs, and fuel lines. The seller states that the muffler, tailpipe, and battery have also been recently replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The shifter linkage bushings and transaxle mounts were replaced in 2021, at which time an undercoating was applied to the chassis.
