The metric 415mm basketweave alloy wheels are mounted with 240/45 Michelin TRX GT-B tires that were fitted in July 2022. The car is equipped with a MacPherson strut semi-trailing arm suspension, a larger front anti-roll bar than the standard E24, and a rear anti-roll bar and self-leveling system. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs with an anti-lock system. The brake pressure switch was replaced in March 2019, and service in May 2022 included replacing the rear pitman arms, brake master cylinder, and brake fluid, as well as resurfacing the brake rotors and rebuilding the ABS module.
The power-adjustable front seats are upholstered in Natur leather that extends to the center console, lower dashboard, and door panels. Brown leather covers the upper dashboard and door panels, and additional amenities include a cassette stereo, driver’s memory settings, cruise control, front and rear air conditioning, an onboard computer, and power windows and locks. The air conditioner receiver/drier was replaced and the system was converted to R134a refrigerant in May 2022.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, an M-branded tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.5-liter S38B35 inline-six was factory rated at 256 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. Service in May 2022 included replacing the water pump and spark plugs, a coolant flush, and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional photos of the underside showing driveline and suspension components are presented in the gallery.
