The car was refinished in white by the previous owner in the 1970s, and after approximately 17 years of storage the seller had the car repainted in its current shade of metallic blue by Alberto Gironella of Mexico City, Mexico between 2005 and 2010. Features include chrome-finished trim, Cibie fog lights, and added 1600 S badging. A chip is noted in the driver-side front wheel arch.
Silver-colored 13″ deep-dish Gotti wheels are mounted with 175/70 front and 185/70 rear Pirelli tires, and a spare is located in the front trunk. The front and rear axles are said to have been overhauled circa 2005, and the car is equipped with a dual-reservoir brake master cylinder, a hydraulic parking-brake system, and Koni dampers. The rear axle utilizes four shocks.
The interior also was redone during the refurbishment, featuring fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in black leather with cloth inserts. A roll bar and red OMP racing harnesses have been added, and black carpeting extends to the cargo shelf behind the seats. Imperfections are noted on the door panels, and there is a chip in the driver-side door jamb.
A three-spoke steering wheel with an Alpine horn button sits ahead of an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 240-km/h speedometer, and three auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 56k kilometers (~35k miles), approximately 30k kilometers of which have been added by the seller.
A rear-mounted 1.6-liter inline-four has been installed in place of the original 1.3-liter engine. The cylinder head was sourced from a Renault Fuego, which allowed the water pump to be relocated to rear of the engine bay to make the belt accessible for service. Induction is handled by twin Weber side-draft carburetors, and a larger fuel tank also has been installed. Annual oil changes are reported by the seller.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes the car features a larger 50-liter capacity fuel tank. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
Sales paperwork from June 4, 1970 indicates a total price of 49,550 pesos.
