Continental was an independent luxury subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company when this example was built, and the car shared no badging with contemporary Lincoln models. The car was originally finished in two-tone bronze metallic and was repainted in black in 2013. Features include a hood ornament, stainless steel trim, chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper. The driver-side taillight swings away to reveal a fuel filler, and one-year-only air intakes can be seen atop the rear fenders to feed the air conditioning system. The exterior trim was polished and the grille and bumpers were re-chromed under current ownership. The right side window weatherstrip trim is missing, and the windshield wipers are included but not installed.
Steel 15″ wheels wear turbine-style covers and are mounted with 215/75 Coker Classic whitewall tires. The Mark II rode on a unique Y-shaped chassis with a 126″ wheelbase and utilized speed-sensitive front shock absorbers as well as additional suspension components adapted from the standard Lincoln lineup. Power-assisted steering and brakes were standard features. The brake booster and master cylinder were replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats that were reupholstered in two-tone beige leather and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Chrome accents the door panels and sills, and equipment includes air conditioning, a power-adjustable front bench, electric front and rear windows, and a Town Country push-button AM radio.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a combination gauge, and a clock. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The speedometer was replaced in 2022, and the odometer was retained.
The 368ci Y-block V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 285 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. A tune-up and compression test were performed in September 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed Turbo-Drive automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2015.
An initial invoice copy, service and refurbishment records, and spare parts are included in the sale.
