During the refurbishment, rust was repaired near the right corner of the hood. The passenger-side lower windshield trim is noted to be askew.
Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wear Porsche-crested hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Nankang CX-668 tires with 2017 date codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The removed factory wheels have reportedly been re-chromed and are included with the sale.
The interior is said to have been refurbished under previous ownership and features low-back bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery along with a matching dash pad and door panels. Salt-and-pepper square-weave carpeting was installed and extends over the cargo area behind the seats.
A three-spoke steering wheel wears a Porsche crest on the horn and sits ahead of green-letter VDO instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and an auxiliary gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 93k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.6-liter flat-four utilizes dual carburetors that were rebuilt under current ownership. The seller states the top end was recently rebuilt, and an oil change was completed in preparation for the sale. Metal components attatched to the engine are said to have been powder-coated, and an oil seep is noted.
The engine-case stamping reads ☆606651☆, which is consistent with the engine number noted on the Kardex.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A replacement clutch, flywheel and pressure plate were reportedly installed during the refurbishment work under prior ownership. The seller states the nose of the transaxle is leaking. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
A copy of the Kardex indicates that the car left the factory in September 1961 finished in Aetna Blue over black upholstery, and that it was delivered new to New York through Hoffman Motors.
