The car left the factory painted in Riverside Red (923A) and was repainted by Sterling Hot Rods of Sterling, Virginia, in April 2013 following disassembly of the fiberglass body and panel repairs. Exterior details include a split rear window, concealed headlights, a left-side mirror, rocker panel accents, split chrome bumpers and trim, and a dual exhaust system that exits through the rear valance. Paint defects on the fenders and hood can be seen in the gallery below, and the hood rubs on the left fender when opened.
Steel 15″ wheels wear faux knock-off spinner-style covers and 205/75 American Classic whitewall tires with 2013 date codes. Power steering is fitted, and the front suspension was rebuilt with replacement control arm bushings and ball joints in September 2013. Stopping power is provided by manual drum brakes at each corner, and the rear wheel cylinders, brake drums, and lines were replaced in 2013.
The cabin features bucket seats that were re-padded and reupholstered in black vinyl in 2013 by Sterling Hot Rods, and the dashboard trim, carpeting, door panels, sill plates, and interior trim were replaced at that time. The electrical system was overhauled with a replacement fuse box and wiring harnesses. Equipment includes lap belts, Corvette-branded floor mats, a heater, a center-mounted electric clock, a reverse-lockout shifter, and a Delco AM/FM radio. Cosmetic flaws consist of a blemish on the glove box, a scratch on the right-side metal footwell trim, and a crack near the latch on the driver’s door.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges that were rebuilt in 2013 by Vintage Vette Clock & Gauge of Woodbridge, Virginia. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 96k miles, and the tachometer needle shakes.
The 327ci V8 was factory rated at 300 horsepower and features a Carter AFB carburetor, “rams horn” exhaust manifolds, an aluminum radiator, and a chrome air cleaner assembly and ignition cover. The engine was finished in orange after being rebuilt by Tyson’s Automotive Machine of McLean, Virginia, using a replacement camshaft, bearings, pistons, rings, pushrods, and valves. The block was bored and honed and the connecting rods were reconditioned at that time. Additional service included replacing the fuel-sending unit and fitting a high-energy ignition kit in 2013.
Engine numbers are shown above along with suffix stamp RD, which indicates a 327ci 300-horsepower V8 intended for use with a manual transmission. Additional stampings and decals can be seen in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission that is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment. Overspray is present along with paint defects on the underside of the rear panels.
