The 15” wheels are mounted with Travelstar UN106 tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted drums.
The seats were reupholstered in red vinyl under current ownership, and other recent work has included replacing the carpets and refinishing cabin elements in white. The metal door sills are also replacements, and amenities include a heater, an analog clock, and lap belts. A pushbutton stereo is equipped, but the speaker system does not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, several hundred of which were added under current ownership.
The 327ci L76 V8 was rated at 365 horsepower when new, and the carburetor and alternator are said to have been replaced in 2019. Other recent service includes rodding the radiator in 2018. A leak is noted from the rear main seal.
The engine code and serial number are shown above. The RE suffix corresponds with a 365-horsepower, 327ci V8 for use with a manual transmission. The engine identification stamping 104647 matches the last six digits of the chassis number as shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photographs are shown in the gallery below.
