Following the current owner’s acquisition in 2015, the body was fitted with a Grumpy’s 21-window and sunroof conversion. It was then repainted in the factory color combination of Sea Blue and Blue White. Additional equipment includes US-market bumpers with overriders, safari-style windshields, dual mirrors, sealed-beam headlights, and dual exhaust outlets.
White-finished German 16″ steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 205/65 Mazama Reputation Luxury Touring tires. Rack and pinion steering and an independent rear suspension have been added, and braking is provided by four-wheel cross-drilled and vented discs.
The cab has been reupholstered in Allante Grey vinyl with square weave carpeting. Equipment includes vent windows, a Gilmore air conditioning system, rear bench seating, front and rear lap belts, and a period-style aftermarket stereo.
Replica VDO instrumentation consists of an 80-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, a clock, and a trio of auxiliary gauges is mounted in a custom enclosure in the body-color metal dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 35 miles and was reset during the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled flat-four was built to 2,316cc by Jack Raby of Raby Enterprises in 2018, and it features dual 45mm Dellorto carburetors, ported and polished cylinder heads, a DTM stage 4 cooling system, a Weber camshaft, and a forged crankshaft. A Tangerine Racing stainless steel exhaust system has also been added.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle with a Sachs pressure plate and clutch. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
