One of 615 RM21 coupes produced, this car left the factory finished in Jamaica Blue metallic (B7) and was repainted during a refurbishment performed in the 1990s. The lift-off matte-black fiberglass hood has a scoop, securing pins, and “440 6bbl” decals, and other features include a white vinyl roof, chrome bumpers and trim, Road Runner badging, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes blotching/striping in the metallic paint, and a blemish beneath the passenger door is visible in the photo gallery below.
Black H-series 15″ steel wheels are mounted with Firestone Super Sports Wide Oval bias-ply red-line tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The cabin was reportedly refreshed in 2018 and features front and rear bench seats upholstered in white vinyl complemented by matching door panels and a contrasting dashboard and carpeting. Features include a heater/defroster, lap belts, front vent windows, a locking glovebox, and a push-button AM radio.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. A Stewart-Warner oil-pressure gauge has been added beneath the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership.
The replacement 440ci V8 features a Mopar Performance purple camshaft and three two-barrel Holley carburetors. The engine is said to have been overhauled in 2018. The carburetors’ part numbers are documented in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission with a 5.0 kickdown lever, a Hughes Performance 3,500-rpm torque converter, and a Dana 60 Sure Grip rear axle with 4.10:1 gears.
The fender tag shown above includes code A12, which indicates a 440ci V8 engine with “Six Barrel” carburetion, which was part of a package that was introduced late in the 1969 model year.
A New England Dragway Pit Permit is affixed to the driver-side sun visor.
