The car left the factory finished in Limelight (FJ5), and the seller states that the body was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a satin silver grille, black hockey stick stripes, fog lamps, dual mirrors, polished rocker trim, chrome bumpers, and a Rallye hood with dual scoops and hood pins.
Steel 14″ Rallye wheels wear chrome trim rings and are mounted with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The center console features faux woodgrain trim, and equipment includes a Hurst Pistol-Grip shifter, a Chrysler solid-state AM radio, a fire extinguisher, and lap belts. The seller states that the trunk lock was replaced in May 2022.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts an AutoGage tachometer in addition to a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. AutoMeter readouts for water temperature and oil pressure are mounted beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows just over 800 miles and is believed to have rolled over once. The seller notes a noise from the speedometer when traveling approximately 45-mph, and total mileage is unknown.
The 440ci V8 is equipped with triple Holley two-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 390 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. Work performed since October 2021 reportedly included installing a PerTronix electronic ignition in addition to rebuilding the carburetors, changing the engine oil, and replacing the following parts and components:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear axle with a Sure Grip differential and 3.54:1 gears. The differential gasket and fluid were replaced in August 2022, according to the seller.
The chassis number indicates that the car was produced at the Hamtramck, Michigan, assembly facility as a 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda hardtop powered by a 440ci V8 with triple two-barrel carburetors. The fender tag partially decodes as follows:
Photos from various stages of the refurbishment process will accompany the car, as will partial service records and Plymouth posters.
