The car is said to have been repainted in blue under current ownership and features include a fiberglass Formula hood with dual scoops as well as a rear spoiler, fender vents, “494” badging, body-color bumpers and sport mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets that exit below the rear valance. The windshield, rear window, and mirrors were reportedly replaced during the refurbishment.
Aluminum 17″ Rally II-style wheels wear PMD center caps and are mounted with 285/40 Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires. The car is fitted with a quick-ratio power steering box, Koni adjustable shock absorbers, and lowering springs. Braking is handled by a hydroboost-assisted power brake system with discs at all four corners.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench upholstered in black vinyl. Equipment includes Vintage Air climate control, a center console, a roll bar, three-point front seat belts, Hitron speakers, and a Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth capability. Sound-deadening material was applied to interior surfaces, and an Optima yellow-top battery is mounted in the trunk.
The three-spoke Formula steering wheel is mounted to a tilting Ididit steering column and sits ahead of an engine-turned instrument panel housing an AutoMeter 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, battery voltage, vacuum, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 174 miles. True chassis mileage is unknown.
The 400ci V8 was overbored .060″ and stroked for a total displacement of 494ci during the rebuild under current ownership. The engine was been fitted with a forged Ohio crankshaft, Eagle connecting rods, DSS pistons, an SD Performance “Old Faithful” roller camshaft, and roller rocker arms. Additional features include a Canton baffled 7-quart road race oil pan, electronic ignition, a Quick Fuel 950-cfm carburetor, a Butler Performance intake manifold, ported Kauffman round-port aluminum cylinder heads, welded sheet metal valve covers, and tubular stainless exhaust headers.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. A 2,500-rpm-stall torque converter was reportedly installed, and the 10-bolt rear axle is said to have been fitted with a limited-slip differential and 3.23:1 gears. A Pypes 2.5″ dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and a cross-flow muffler has been installed.
