The body is finished in Pastel Green (LRC005), and the seller states that the hood and doors have been refinished. Features include a folding windshield, a removable hardtop, front tow rings, Hella driving lights, Ashtree mirrors, sliding windows, and spare-tire mounts on the hood and rear door. A receiver hitch and rear grab handles and steps have been added along with checker-plate trim on the fenders, rocker panels, and lower rear quarter panels. A paint chip on the hood and scratches on the left-rear quarter panel are among blemishes noted around the vehicle by the seller.
The 15″ steel wheels were reportedly sourced from Rovers North in Vermont, and they wear 30×9.5″ Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires. Manually locking Warn hubs are installed up front. The brake master cylinder, lines, drums, and shoes were replaced during the refurbishment in addition to the shock absorbers and leaf springs according to the seller. The brake fluid was flushed, the upper steering-column bearing was replaced, and the oil was topped up in the steering box in February 2022 by London Auto Services of Falls Church, Virginia. The February 2022 invoice in the gallery below notes a notchy spot in the steering box.
The cab features two bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl that flank a locking storage compartment and an Alpine CD/cassette stereo wired to rear-mounted speakers. Several event plaques are affixed to the lower dashboard, and the upper panel on the left door has been repaired with tape.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 95-mph speedometer and a combination gauge for coolant temperature and fuel level. The dimmer switch for the instrument lighting has been bypassed. A tachometer has been added to the left of the steering wheel, and a Lev-O-Gage is mounted next to the central oil-pressure gauge. The five-digit odometer does not work and now shows 70k miles. The Virginia title has a “Not Actual” odometer brand, and total mileage is unknown.
The cargo area houses a pair of inward-facing folding benches as well as a fire extinguisher and a spare tire.
The 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four was reportedly modified during the refurbishment with a Clifford Performance kit consisting of a replacement intake manifold, a two-barrel Weber carburetor, and an exhaust header. A replacement alternator, a heavy-duty ignition coil, and an electronic distributor are also noted by the seller. The coolant was flushed and the coolant reservoir tank vent hose was replaced in February 2022, at which time the oil was changed and the carburetor was cleaned and adjusted.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a dual-range transfer case with a seized fill plug. The gearbox and transfer case were reportedly rebuilt by British MOD during the refurbishment, at which time a Santana overdrive unit was added and the exhaust system was replaced. Additional images of the underbody are included in the gallery below.
A 2003 article published by the Washington Times and the Rovers North News will accompany the truck along with manufacturer’s literature and service records.
