The 308 GTB was introduced at the 1975 Paris motor show and featured Pininfarina-styled bodywork constructed of glass-reinforced plastic over a tubular steel chassis. It was reported that only the first 712 examples of the 308 had fiberglass bodywork, although Ferrari later quoted a production total of 808 vetroresina cars before Carrozzeria Scaglietti fully switched over to steel body panels in June 1977. It was reported that only the first 712 examples of the 308 had fiberglass bodywork, although Ferrari later quoted a production total of 808 vetroresina cars before Carrozzeria Scaglietti fully switched over to steel body panels in June 1977. This example constructed in mid-1976 is finished in Rosso Chiaro (20-R-190) and features pop-up headlights, side air inlets, black bumpers, and a ventilated deck lid.
Five-spoke 14″ Campagnolo alloy wheels are mounted with 235/60 Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires. The car features an independent suspension with control arms at each corner, and braking is provided by ventilated discs all around. The brake fluid was flushed in March 2022.
The cabin features tan leather bucket seats with black inserts, darker carpeting, and a contrasting black dashboard. Additional equipment includes a gated shifter, air conditioning, power windows, and a Blaupunkt cassette player.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Veglia instrumentation that includes a 180-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles.
The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with Weber carburetors and was factory rated at 240 horsepower for the US market. An electronic ignition system has been installed. A timing-belt service was performed by GT Motorsports of Pewaukee, Wisconsin in March 2022, at which time the camshaft seals and water pump were replaced, the camshaft timing was set, the valves were adjusted, the carburetors were rebuilt, and the fluids were changed.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes rust on the underbody, and additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
Accompanying manuals and receipts are pictured in the gallery, as is the tool kit.
