The 3.6-liter flat-six was rebuilt by Porsche of Arlington, Virginia in 2005, at which time later-model piston and cylinder assemblies were installed and the camshaft, rocker arms, valves, and head studs were replaced. A valve adjustment was reportedly performed in 2019, and a California emissions inspection was successfully passed in September 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a G50 five-speed manual transaxle.
