The RS America was a lightweight derivative of the contemporary Carrera 2 and is distinguished from the base car by a revised fixed rear spoiler as well as RS scripts on the rear decklid and quarter panels. This example is finished in Black (L741) and features fog lights, a power sunroof, manually-adjustable aero mirrors, and fog lights. Paint correction and ceramic coating services were performed in March 2022.
The 17″ Cup wheels are fitted over spacers and mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 205/50 up front and 255/40 out back. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated and cross-drilled discs. The suspension has been modified with a Bilstein B16 kit, Elephant Racing drop links, polyurethane control-arm bushings, and an Eisenlohr rear spring plate and bump-steer correction kit.
The power height-adjustable sport seats have red seatbelts and are trimmed in black cloth. Amenities include air conditioning, an Alpine stereo, and door pull straps. The RS America is equipped with a luggage shelf in place of the rear seats, and Alpine speakers have been installed on top of the enclosed storage compartments.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer with a 6,700-rpm redline as well as a 180-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 7k of which were added during current ownership.
The 3.6-liter flat-six was factory rated at 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. An oil change and dry ice cleaning were performed in March 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The clutch cylinders were replaced in July 2017.
