The Cobra R can be distinguished from the standard Cobra coupe by its redesigned front end, the absence of fog lights, and a raised cowl on the fiberglass hood to accommodate the engine’s taller intake plenum. The only color offered was Crystal White Clearcoat (ZR), and additional equipment includes a fixed rear spoiler, power-adjustable side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. Delivery stickers remain affixed to the windows.

Factory 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels with Cobra R center caps are mounted with 255/45 BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR tires, and stopping power is provided by Cobra-branded front calipers and vented discs at all four corners. Factory suspension upgrades over the standard Mustang Cobra included adjustable Koni shocks, progressive-rate springs, a front strut-tower brace, and larger-diameter sway bars.
The cabin features Saddle cloth seat upholstery along with matching carpets and a two-tone dashboard and door panels. The Cobra R was not equipped with rear seats, and additional weight-saving measures included the omission of air conditioning, an audio system, and sound insulation. Protective covers remain in place on the seats, lower door panels, and footwells.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames white instrument dials that consist of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 660 miles, approximately 15 of which have been added by the selling dealer. The steering wheel airbag is discolored.
The 5.8-liter V8 in the Cobra R was shared with the contemporary F-150 Lightning but fitted with higher-compression pistons, a more aggressive camshaft, and a larger throttle body. The engine was factory rated at 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, and R models are also equipped with an aluminum radiator, a power steering cooler, an engine oil cooler, and a fuel cell with a high-capacity fuel pump.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential. Additional photos of the underside are available in the gallery below.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to H.P. Smith Motors of Omaha, Nebraska, along with factory colors, options, and a total price of $35,499.
The Ford SVT Certificate of Authenticity lists a build date of March 1st, 1995, and identifies this car as #95 of the 250 Cobra R examples produced for the model year. SVT correspondence and manufacturer’s literature will accompany the car.
